This week’s new issue of Mountain Xpress (the local alt-weekly paper for Asheville, NC) features another cover illustration from me. I was tasked to come up with a concept to illustrate the story about the vast amount of election campaign contributions for the two local district representatives that come from sources outside the state.

After nixing my initial idea of having the two congressmen climbing a Western North Carolina-shaped graph showing their respective donations, they accepted this concept of the racing cars made of stacks of cash. I also did caricatures of each representative, but since they were made smaller and put on the car roofs, they aren’t all that visible. See original ideas and art below:
